Dear Affiliate Leader: With the continued uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision to postpone the 2021 Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative Conference and 2021 Michael A. Mullane Political Training Academy. The primary value of the Legislative Conference is the in-person meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
East Fremont Garage Fire
12/03/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, 911 callers reported a garage on fire in the 6900 block of East Fremont Avenue in Centennial. When members from Tower 32 arrived, they encountered a fully engulfed garage with two vehicles inside. Members deployed a hose line and used their tank water to begin controlling the flames.
Needlegrass Ct. Structure Fire
12/03/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 5:41 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020, Local members responded to reports of an explosion at home on Needlegrass Court in Parker. 911 callers heard the explosion, saw broken glass in the street and damage to the garage door. Neighbors used a fire extinguisher to control a small fire in the garage and assisted one of the home’s occupants to safety.

We all know that running for a Union Executive Board position is a stressful and time-consuming process.  We counted for over 3 hours some 571 ballots tonights. Norwalk Fire Department Press Release 11/27/20 Norwalk Fire responded to a house fire at 11 Lawrence st. Upon arrival there was smoke showing from the third floor window. The fire started in the kitchen area . The smoke damage made the apartment unfit for occupancy. A family of four was displaced and the Red Cross provided housing arrangements.

It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you of the line of duty death of Kansas City Fire Department Fire Captain, P/18/A and IAFF Local 42 Member Bobby Rocha. Bobby fell ill and was diagnosed with COVID-19. Brother Rocha fought valiantly against this virus and his fight was a testament to his strength as a person.

At 4:49 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020, Local members responded to a collision involving a vehicle into a home at 837 W. Powers Ave. in Littleton. First arriving Littleton Police Officers reported a natural gas leak, evacuated the occupants and checked for injuries. When members arrived, they stood by with a charged hose line in case anything ignited and confirmed that no one was hurt.

At 8:09 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, Local members responded to a fire alarm activation at Courtney Downs Apartments, located at 15859 E. Jamison Drive in Arapahoe County. While members were responding, 911 callers reported water flowing and smoke in the building. First arriving Engine 42 found smoke in and around the large 3-story building and pulled a hose line for fire attack.

Norwalk Fire Department Press Release November 20, 2020 The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a Garage fire at 43 Plattsville Avenue, at 5:20 pm Friday evening. The fire burned inside the rear wall of the single car garage and into its attic space, before it could be extinguished.

Malden Fire Fighters Local 902 Stress Safety on Thanksgiving Day Safe travel and home cooking lead to a Happy Thanksgiving for all A cooking fire is three times more likely on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year. Most of those Thanksgiving Day fires occur between noon and 4:00 p.m. – the peak cooking hours.

Hello Sisters and Brothers, Below is information regarding our final Suicide Prevention classes being provided by the Veterans Administration in partnership with the DFD Peer Support Team, and is available to anyone interested. This session is an hour and a half long and will take place at 9am this Wednesday, November 18th.
Colorado Blvd. Car vs Building
11/17/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 1:44 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Local members responded to a traffic collision involving a structure at the Chase Bank, located at 9350 S. Colorado Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. When Engine 17 arrived, they found a Jeep Grand Cherokee into a support column for the building with significant damage.

11/17/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 8:40 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, Local members responded to an apartment fire at 1039 S. Parker Rd. in Arapahoe County. A vigilant neighbor heard smoke alarms sounding from a nearby apartment, saw smoke coming from the top of the door and dialed 911. First arriving members from Station 21 advanced a hose line through the complex and entered the burning apartment.
Commercial Structure Fire

On Thursday November 12, 2020 at 8 a.m., Local members responded to a commercial structure fire at the Aces Motorcycle store off of W. Bowles Ave. in Littleton. When Engine 11 arrived on scene, members found heavy smoke inside the building, but could not find any active fire.

Norwalk Fire department Press Release Norwalk Fire responded to a MVA on I-95 involving three cars and a tractor trailer.at 2030 hours. Immediately followed at 2130 hours  by another car into the back of a tractor trailer with three youths in the car killing one. FD extricated all three passengers two with serious injuries and one fatality.

Norwalk Fire Department Press Release The Norwalk Fire department responded to a house fire at #2 Pheasant Ct. at 1545 hours. The fire started in the kitchen of the two story home, and extended through the vent ductwork into the attic. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and removed the smoke from the home.

Good Afternoon The first of the two Ratification Meetings is TONIGHT - Monday, November 16, 2020 at 6 pm - The waiting room for credentialling will open by 5 pm  - Sign-in early so credentialling will go quicker. We will not start the meeting until everybody has entered the meeting. The meeting will be locked at 6:20 pm, and no one else will be allowed into the Waiting Room.

The Collective Bargaining Committee would like to present the Memorandum of Understanding for the 2021 contract year.   The presentation will take place on Monday, November 16, 2020, at 6 pm and Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 9:30 am.  This presentation will occur virtually via ZOOM, and you will be required to both register and log in to your ZOOM account.
